One night.
One second.
A life changed.
For
those who know the Claxton family, you are familiar with Courtney's
story. December 8th seems like a lifetime ago, especially for
Gail, Charles, and Courtney. While the Claxtons care for Courtney
in Atlanta at Shepherd Spinal Center, I have been working to make their
home handicapped accessible. Ramps are being built, doorways
widened, Courtney's bathroom has been completely gutted and redesigned
for wheelchair accessibility, as well as her bedroom. Though
contractors have generously donated many hours, the supply houses
cannot afford to give away all the needed materials, especially with
the state of our economy. Bills are starting to come due for
these materials. Many of these items are rather costly due to
their special nature. It is our goal to have this project paid
for by the time Courtney comes home. There will also be the cost
of a handicap-equipped van to transport her once they have returned
home.
I am constantly having people ask, "What can I
do to help?" So here is your opportunity. Some of you may
have already given. If you have not, and feel the prompting to
contribute, it would be welcomed and much needed. No amount is
too small. Ten people giving ten dollars is a one hundred dollar
contribution! Please understand, do not feel you have to give
anything. Your prayers are enough. However, if you feel the
need to give financially, it will be put to good use. We have set
up a special account for this purpose and are keeping a list for the
Claxtons. Needless to say, they are extremely thankful for the
support of their friends and see God's blessing every day.
Checks
can be made out to Gail and Charles Claxton, and mailed to Debbie Banks
at 5334 Windmill Parkway, Evans, GA 30809. The heartfelt
concern and prayers of all of Gail, Charles and Courtney’s friends,
amaze me. Please feel free to forward this to anyone you think
would want to support the Claxton’s in this time of need.
